Mangroves, Myanmar
Dr. Arne Fjørtoft Founder of Worldview International Foundation met Kate at her solo exhibition The Mee Ya Hta Railway Building in Yangon Myanmar. He was moved by the atmosphere in her work and invited her to the Foundation’s project in the Ayearwady Delta.
‘Forests of the Tide’ a multi sensory installation with black and white six footer triptych and diptychs were made after 14 months of visits, during which she made research excursions into the depths of the Mangroves. Drawing, sketching and collecting sounds in difficult sticky terrain, Kate relished the challenge. She ran workshops with a marine biologist and forester, for the local school children who arrived by boat to cyclone battered Marine research station.

Mangrove Panorama
From an elevated site by a half built pagoda, where wild elephants roam, Kate was able to draw scanning the coastal Mangrove project and made an 8ft by 12ft acrylic on canvas wall hanging for the exhibition room which highlighted the restoration work of the local Ma Gi team.
